Postcard Craze:
Postcard, Postal History and Family History

In earlier years, postcard messages were like the online chats of today. If you have or find family postcards, they offer evidence of social and family connections. Even if you haven’t found any yet, learn how you can find postcards to illustrate and enhance your family stories!

GOONS: Why Study A Surname?

A One-Name Study can break down brick walls, expand your surname family lines, and hone your research skills, (even if it’s not your study).  Learn what One-Namers do, and how surname studies can benefit your own family research.

About Diane:

Diane Rogers has been researching her own family history for a long time in Canadian, English, Scottish, Irish, United States and Swedish records and sources.    She has a lifelong interest in local and women’s history, is a Past President of the BCGS and was for many years the Editor of The BC Genealogist.

She speaks at events on topics from ‘Beginning Family History’, to using DNA and even ‘Shocking Genealogy Resources’, teaches genealogy classes year round and facilitates both the Vancouver and Scandinavian genealogy groups.

She has a One-Name study for SAGGERS, helps with the LEWIS study and has a One-Place study for NEWDALE in Manitoba and she is the Canadian Rep for the Guild of One-Name Studies.

She’s active on social media and for over 16 years has blogged at “CanadaGenealogy, or, Jane’s Your Aunt”. In her spare time, she collects and researches photographs and postcards and is President and Editor of the Vancouver Postcard Club.
